Dentures are used to replace missing teeth. These prostheses may be used to replace one tooth, a few teeth or all of the teeth. While a traditional denture rests on the patient’s gum, an implant-supported denture is reinforced by titanium or ceramic screws that are surgically affixed to the jawbone.

Conventional Set of Full Dentures

These dentures are removable. They can replace all of the patient’s teeth in the upper and/or lower arch. This prosthesis rests on top of the gums.

Implant Supported Dentures

If Dr. Mojgan Sheikhavandi surgically inserts dental implants into the jawbone to support the prosthesis, the denture will remain securely in place.

Partial Dentures

These kinds of prostheses are used when a patient only needs one or a few teeth replaced in the lower or upper arch. The partial denture has a base that is made of acrylic and resembles the natural gum. There is a small metal piece attached to the base. This metal piece holds the denture in place by utilizing support from the nearest natural tooth. A partial fills the space that missing teeth leave behind, which prevents the other teeth from shifting and causing additional problems.

Immediate Dentures

This type of denture is generally put in place on the day the teeth are extracted. Although most patients would prefer this method of tooth replacement, Dr. Mojgan Sheikhavandi must determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Custom Dentures

Custom dentures are created using more expensive materials. When more expensive materials are used, the patient enjoys a more natural-looking result.

An overdenture is held in place by dental implants. It rests on top of the gums and can be placed on the upper or lower arch. Although an overdenture is supported by dental implants, it is removable.

Snap-In Dentures

When considering stability, snap-in dentures are the best option available. These dentures are secured with anchors placed onto the existing teeth or implants. Snap-In dentures are typically used when a patient does not have any remaining teeth, but still has a sufficient amount of jawbone available to hold an implant. Just like partial dentures, snap-in dentures are removable.

Economy Dentures

These dental appliances are commonly referred to as the most cost-effective kind of denture. Economy dentures are generic and are not customized for the patient’s mouth. As such, these appliances do not provide the patient with a secure, comfortable fit. Therefore, the patient must use denture adhesive to attain a more secure fit. In addition, these generic dentures tend to look unnatural, which is why economy dentures are frequently a patients last resort.

Upper Dentures

These are dentures used to replace missing teeth in the upper jaw.
